///Jurassic is a crucial period for the elaterid evolution in particular. The first remarkable radiation of Elateridae occurred in Middle Jurassic to early Late Jurassic. Although the earliest fossil record of Elateridae has been known from Lower Jurassic (Dolin, 1973), very few fossil elaterids older than Late Jurassic have been reported (Dolin, 1975, 1976, 1980).
