The application of fractal theory on the fractal structural characteristics of the deposit grade distribution is an effective way to reveal the spatial variability of it. Taking the Dongguashan copper deposit as an example, the authors analyze the fractal distribution of the Cu grade, and calculate the fractal dimension (D) of the entirety of main orebody and its different sections. The variation in the fractal dimension demonstrates that the orebody is most inhomogeneous at exploration line 50~52 which can be taken as a useful reference for designing the exploratory grid and evaluating the deposit.
