In this paper, the authors presented methodologies and standards for the identification of shale gas reservoirs with cutting GR logs, elemental logs and drilling time logs, and provided methods to calculate porosity and permeability, formation pressure and fracture pressure, gas saturation and gas content and to predict productivity by using mud logs and compound logs. Furthermore, analysis and discussion are made in a case study of J111 well, the first exploratory experimental shale gas well operated by SINOPEC. Application results prove that the above practical methodologies can meet the requirement of quick on-site logging interpretation and evaluation of shale gas reservoirs.
