As underground engineering is deeper, the in situ rock stress will become greater. To maintain the stability of rock body during the engineering operation, the authors discuss the formation of in situ rock stress, affecting factors of in situ rock stress and several measuring methods of in situ rock stress. The paper compares these measuring methods and points out where improvements can be done.
